The Merion Golf Club, near Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges, in the northwestern suburbs of Philadelphia, has two courses, though only the east one, Merion East, is considered a classic, and has hosted five U.S. Open tournaments. It is dog-legged in the middle, and split by Ardmore Avenue, which has to be crossed to play through.
