Big Piney is a new helium plant, constructed in 2014, which has been idled. Located in southwestern Wyoming, it is fed by the Riley Ridge Gas Plant, 15 miles away. It was built in partnership between Air Products and Matheson. Air Products is the second largest helium company operating in the USA. Matheson has less presence in the USA, but is part of Taiyo Nippon Sanso, a major international industrial gas company based in Japan, with six billion dollars in annual sales, mostly in Asia.
