Praxair operates a helium plant on the edge of the Bushton Gas Plant, a large gas hub for the mid-continental US. The Bushton Helium Plant marks the end (and beginning) of the Federal Helium Pipeline, 425 miles from the other end near Amarillo, Texas, used for conveying crude helium. Helium refined to 99.9% pure here is moved by truck or rail to transfill locations all over the country, which serve as transfer and storage sites. Praxair, now merged with Linde, is headquartered in Ireland, with US operations based out of Praxair’s former HQ in Danbury, Connecticut. This is one of just a few helium plants in the USA, which is one of the largest producers of helium in the world.
