The Anheuser-Busch company, based in St. Louis since 1852, built its first large-scale postwar brewery here, next to Newark Airport, in 1951. The next one was built three years later in Los Angeles, then Houston (1966), followed by Columbus Ohio (1968), Florida, and so on, geographically across the nation. Today their product is manufactured at twelve breweries, producing half of the beer consumed in the USA.
