Located east of Highway 395, eight miles southeast of Red Mountain, Cuddeback sees a reasonably high amount of off-highway vehicle use, and is close to a remote military airstrip used occasionally for drone training programs. There are three photo calibration grids near the lake, and several significant experimental aircraft have crashed in this remote basin over the years. The lakebed itself is also used for filming car commercials.
