Ford Lake is an oblong dry lake in the Chuckwalla Valley, next to Interstate 10, west of Blythe. A large solar energy plant has been constructed on three square miles on its northern edge. The Genesis plant uses rows of reflective parabolic troughs to heat a fluid that generates steam, then electricity.
