Rogers Lake

Rogers is a large dry lake that is the heart of Edwards Air Force Base. This is the surface where technologies of the jet age were first tested, where the Apollo astronauts learned to fly, and where the space shuttle landed on a number of occasions. On its edges are the main complexes of the air base, including NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center, and the secretive North Base complex. Several large landing areas are marked on the lakebed itself, and there is a large compass rose carved in the surface to help orient pilots high in the sky.
