Atlas Cold Storage operates a cold storage warehouse with a 75-degree temperature range, from minus 20 in the ice-cream storage room to 55 degrees for flowers and fruits. Atlas operates exclusively under a contract with The Kroger Co., one of America’s largest grocery retailers, and ships frozen and refrigerated foods from its 109 truck bays to Kroger stores in the eastern half of the United States, with the majority going to Indianapolis and Cincinnati. According to the warehouse manager, the majority of the inventory turns over in eight days or less, and consists of frozen foods, including TV dinners, ice-cream, frozen meats, seafood, and dough for Kroger’s in-store bakeries.
