More than half of the seafood Americans eat from U.S. waters is caught in Alaska, and most of that is landed and processed at Dutch Harbor, on Unalska Island. The port handles more than 500 million pounds of fish a year. Most of the fish is pollock, a whitefish that is used in frozen fish sticks and breaded fillets, the forms in which the majority of fish is consumed in the USA.
