Lopez Canyon was the largest of the six landfills owned by the City of Los Angeles. Lopez Canyon is located north of the Hansen Dam, above the 210 Freeway in San Fernando. The landfill closed in 1984, after receiving a total of 19,200,000 tons, filling a canyon 200 feet deep.
