Sherwood Disposal Site

2600 Google Earth image.A former uranium ore processing site in eastern Washington State has been remediated and a cell constructed to contain the radioactive tailings and mill buildings. The mill was operated from 1978 to 1992 by the Western Nuclear Company. It is located next to the open pit mine, and is a few miles from another open pit uranium mine and a former mill site near the town of Ford. The Sherwood Disposal Cell was constructed in 1996, and contains 2.7 million cubic yards of tailings and debris.
