John Arndt is an artist from Illinois who spent a number of weeks at Wendover in 2006, sharing Southbase with the National Guard for most of it. He made a number of salt-encrustation sculptures and field recordings, which he compiled on a CD called Field Recordings from the Great Salt Lake Desert, published by Gallery 400. His work was shown in an exhibition called Empire, at the University of Illinois, Chicago College of Architecture and the Arts in 2006.
