A 15-acre parcel on the northwest end of the valley is used as a research area for projects investigating creative moisture collection, retention, and irrigation methodologies. Several systems for diverting, storing, generating, and distributing water, on a small scale, have been installed on site, and are part of a long-term research program coordinated by the Moisture Project collective, based out of Altadena.
