David Maisel is a photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area who has made photographic aerial surveys of Owens Lake (published as The Lake Project), the Great Salt Lake (published as Terminal Mirage), and Los Angeles (published as Oblivion). He came to Wendover in 2006 to conduct research and photograph in the area for his Mining Project and Black Maps series of aerial images about mining landscapes.
