William L. Fox is a writer who has written extensively about the Great Basin and other "empty" places, and is the Director of the Center for Art + Environment at the Nevada Museum of Art. He has used the residence facilities on numerous occasions to work on projects in the area. His books include Playa Works: The Myth of the Empty, and Wendover: Half-Life of History.
