William Lamson, a sculptor and conceptual artist from Brooklyn, New York, made a few visits to Wendover in 2010. He created an installation in the CLUI Wendover Exhibit Hall 2 which involved covering the windows of the exhibit hall in caramel sugar. He worked on a number of projects on the Bonneville Salt Flats, utilizing a high-intensity Fresnel lens, and also spent some time at the Center's Desert Research Station in Hinkley, California, using the lens on the dry lake bed there, as that surface has a different composition than the Bonneville flats. Lamson’s work at both locations involved observational research into the transformation of materials though the application of solar radiation.
