The Gramercy Switching Station, in south central Los Angeles, was built in 1948, to receive the 138,000 volt lines from units 4 and 5 of the Harbor Generating Station. It is one of four DWP switching stations in the LA basin, and like the others it is loadless, and does not distribute power locally. It just forwards power to Receiving Station D, when it is activated to relieve the incoming load from Receiving Station C.
