The Olive Switching Station is located in Sylmar, and was first used in 1917, as a high voltage switching facility between San Francisquito Canyon’s Power Plant 1, and Receiving Station A. It was the mid-point on the new line that carried all the electricity for the city. The original building has been torn down, but switching functions for the line from San Francisquito Canyon’s Power Plant 1 and 2, as well as a line from the Castiac Power Plant still occur at the site.
