The River Switching Station is one of four large switching stations operated by the DWP. Unlike Receiving Stations, which convert voltages from high to mid, Switching Stations are high voltage distribution points, operating at one voltage, generally moving current between Receiving Stations. The River Station is located on 6th Street, next to the LA River, near downtown. It receives power from Receiving Station A, and F, and delivers it to Receiving Station P, the Market Station, next to downtown.
