Receiving Station E, in the eastern San Fernando Valley, was built in 1937 to supply Boulder Dam power to the region, including to Glendale and Burbank, via a new 132,000 volt line, coming from the dam line’s switching station in Victorville. Station E was also connected to Station A, downtown, by a line operating at the Owens Valley’s plant’s level of 110,000 volts. The station was upgraded substantially in 1966, and is now connected by two circuits to the Valley Generating Station, located north of it in Sun Valley. Station E is also linked by high voltage lines to Receiving Stations S, H, and Rinaldi.
