The operations building, at the foot of the original control tower, is the administrative headquarters for the original World War II airfield, and the airfield today. Now a general aviation airport with a 10,000-foot runway, there are no regularly scheduled flights, but it is use by civilians and the military. The airport is owned and operated by Tooele County, Utah, and a staff of four or so county employees work out of this building. Prior to being taken over by the county in the late 1990s, the airfield was owned by the city of Wendover, Utah, and this building was the home of the aviation services business with the poetic, mythological, name of Icarus Aviation, which effectively ran the airport functions of the base for over ten years. The airport operations building is open to the public each day from 8 am to 6 pm. Inside there are some displays and souvenirs for sale.
