This building on the airport flightline is the airbase fire department. The building originally had no garages facing the flightline, as it was constructed for a different purpose during World War II. Bombardiers trained in this building, learning how to identify and acquire targets. On the second floor trainees would look through holes in the floor, at printed targets, displayed on scrolling paper on the floor below. After the base was turned over to the town, this building became City Hall for Wendover, Utah. Later, this complex became the City's maintenance shop area. A full-time fire crew is now based here. As the only large paved runway for many miles, the airfield has seen a lot of emergency landings, including by F-15 and F-35 fighter jets, and has handled several crashes on the runways.
