Hangar Three is the third, from west to east, of four similar squadron hangars, used for the maintenance of squadron aircraft. This hangar was used extensively in 1996 as a shooting location for the patriotic alien attack film Independence Day, where the Wendover Base played the part of the secret airbase known as "Area 51." Portions of the film sets remain in the hangar, visible through the window on the west wall. Inside are some flyable World War II-era aircraft and restoration projects.
