Southbase has ten storage bunkers, made out of concrete, and covered in dirt. Often called igloos, they are similar to around one hundred thousand others, spread around military bases across the USA, used to store munitions. This small collection is somewhat unusual, as the bunkers facing north, towards the main base, have mounded concrete blast shields across from the doors, so in case of an accident, rockets and other munitions would be blocked from skipping over the airfield and into town. The igloos facing south. however, have no such protection, as if it mattered less if the munitions fired southward, into the empty desert. Today the bunkers are mostly leased, including to the casinos, who use them for storage.
