Waste Basin: Landfills of Los Angeles

Landfills are new groundground which never goes away. Landfills are excretive monuments to consumption, mounds and in-fills of unwanted, extra matter, forming a topography of excess. Here is a map of some of the major municipal landfills of the Los Angeles region. Some are closed, capped, and terraced, with erosion control, methane collection, and liquid leachate processing in place. Some predate this sort of attention. Others are still accepting waste. Works of progress, in progress.
